Like other versions of the American Gold Eagle in 2021, the Burnished Gold Eagle received a design overhaul with the introduction of a new reverse design element. Unlike its BU and Proof counterparts, however, the Burnished American Gold Eagle came in just one version throughout the year. In 2021, the United States Mint issued its Gold Eagles with a new reverse design. However, the release schedule started with the Type 1 design, coins featuring the original reverse. The only Type 1 coins issued were the BU and Proof coins. This makes the 2021 Burnished Gold Eagle Type 2 release the first issue of the year for this version of the coin.

All 2021-W 1 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle Coins available here come with individual packaging. The coins are protected in plastic capsules and come with a presentation box. The coin and box arrive in a themed shipper from the US Mint with an included Certificate of Authenticity.

On the obverse side of 2021-W 1 oz Burnished Gold Eagle Coins is a depiction of Lady Liberty. This historic vision of Liberty was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and was first featured on the $20 Gold Double Eagle Coin. The image shows Liberty in front-facing relief as she walks toward the viewer with a torch held aloft in her right hand and carrying an olive branch in her left. The U.S. Capitol Building is visible in the background with sun rays on the horizon.

The reverse field of the 2021-W Burnished American Gold Eagle comes with the new image of the American bald eagle from Jennie Norris. This design shows the head of a bald eagle in left-profile relief with incredible details present in the depiction of the eagle’s head.
